It remains to be seen whether the condemned will receive a cigarette and a blindfold, but the Governor of the State of Utah signed a bill that will allow death row inmates to be executed the old fashioned way: by firing squad. Governor Gary Herbert said that his decision to sign the bill was necessary due to the lack of lethal injection drugs available on the market. (For more on that topic, see here: http://www.latimes.com/nation/nationnow/la-na-nn-pharmacists-execution-lethal-injection-drugs-20150330-story.html). Governor Herbert explained that a firing squad will be employed only if lethal injection drugs cannot be obtained by the State of Utah for executions.
